Arrow Heat warning light and 4W ABS light

Hey guys, I'm Anuj from Auckland, New Zealand. Recently bought a series 7 fd3s efini rx7 with 89,000km's on the clock (genuine), owner stated he bought a series 8 engine with only 40,000km's put in it however no receipts shown as he said he never stored any reciepts. So anyways while driving home from his place I noticed that the 4w ABS light had come on and it still doesn't go off. I'm not TOO worried about it at the moment as I'm not in need of abs but I figured I wouldn't pass the certification if a warning light had stayed on. Also the heat warning light stays on however the coolant temperature is normal. The previous owner told me they had removed the cat converter and apparently they hadn't wired the "earth" wire or something. so yeah, any tips/advice on how to track em' down? Ps. I'm a student who's quite broke right now so can't afford brand new parts or giving it to the mechanic yet to fix the problems. however I've studied brakes in uni so have some knowledge and hands-on skills that may be required. any information is appreciated. Regards.

First things first, I'd find that bad/missing ground wire and ground it. . . . .while you looking around you might find some other things that were left unfinished by the previous owner. So I'd start with the simple and inexpensive visual fixes. Who knows, maybe your intermittent abs light is caused by the same lack of proper grounding.
Good luck ,let us know how it goes. And we'll go from there.

Hi from Suresh in Auckland I have just studied the series 6 wring diagrams. Looking at page Z-26 starting and charging systems both the heat warning and ABS control have a common joint in connector X-11. This could be your problem. I doubt a poor earth would make the heat light go on as the heat warning switch is normally open- unless the previous owner earthed one of the terminals.

Looking at the ABS problem check earth 12 and all the fuses- looking at page Z-106. Hope this helps. if you are still stuck PM me.
