Well, I've seen this unit on two other FD's here in Japan(Dragon and Igy on the Fascist Forum).

I asked them "why". Well, it turns out that when you push the brake pedal down, some of your force to push it also travels to the firewall, causing it to "flex". You can test this out by having someone sit in the driver's seat and push the pedal down. Watch the brake master cylinder move closer to the strut tower! I installed it, and took it for a spin.

The first thing I though was whoa!...I pushed the brakes down and I immediately stopped. Kind of like I had just bled the brakes. The brakes felt more responsive coming out of the parking lot! I drove it around a bit, and made sure I hit the brakes hard. The brakes seemed quicker to respond, but felt as if it had no overall effect on braking i.e. brake distance.

Good little unit. Cost me a whole $50. I'm sure something can be fabricated for the U.S. units!

I would normally run out there, but it's raining REALLY hard right now...winds are blowing out of control...AND it's night time!

Let me see if I can sneak the camera out!

Yep, NO problemo. We could do some Home Depo shopping to make it work! It's a really easy mod to do...like OUR engine torque braces! Best $5 I spent!
