What's the point of the auto counter weight on a RX-7 with a leight weight flywheel? What does it do, and how important is it? Also how far can it be off by and still work?

The counterwieght serves as a critical engine balancing component and as an attachment point for the automatic transmition flex plate. Racing Beat incorporates these counterwieghts with our lightwieght flywheels to maintain engine balance.

Without the counterweight you wouldn't be able to install the flywheel. My flywheel bolted to the counterweight and the counterweight to the shaft.

Oh yeah, out of balance is a bad thing.

That shouldn't make that much of a difference.
