Not sure if anyone remembers but I hvae been putting together a friends FD lately and I've run into a barricade. I got everything all buttoned back up and went to fire the car up for hte first time, and it does absolutely nothing. The car clicks whenever i turn the key to ignition 1, but then after that i turn the key to start it i dont eve hear the starter trying to click.

I got underneath the car and the starter is getting 12V, but sometimes it would go down to 6V, and im not sure why. I couldnt see the voltage doing anything abnormal while my friend tried to start the car. Next i pulled the starter out and hooked the battery charger to it, it spins, and engages so its fully functional. I started going through the factory manual and started working throuhg the idea the interlock could be the problem. It sais you're supposed to get continuity between several different terminals while the car is in different gears. I'm not seeing these. The manual states to adjust the sensor that monitors that (its on the tranny) but i'm still not seeing anything.

A friend suggested trying to find out if there was a stock security system and trying to disengage it, does anyone have anymore information on this?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

is the small signal wire connected to the starter? If so, check the 2 large fuses next to the Main fuse attached to the side of teh battery. I think they are BTN and B1 (?). I don't have my car here for me to look at to give the definate fuse names.

Yes the small black wire is connected. I did a quick check of most of the fuses and I think everythings in tact.

I might have left out that its an automatic, but I figure someone should be able to figure that out with the syptoms I described

Do you kno wmuch about the stock security settings?

Also, i could swear i remember it beeping 3 times at me after shutting the ignition off, but i cant be for certain. A quick look and I couldnt find a reference on the beeps

C'mon guys....

Never heard back from you GT-C........hope you might have some suggestions.

I got in the car today, and im getting 2 beeps for probably like 10 seconds. then it stops

The fuses were good. I'm getting 12V at the starter, but when i start trying to crank the voltage drops to 5-6V. Not sure why

Ok.... took me a while to get back cause i'm in a warzone. The battery is your problem most likely... dead cell. Typically a charger doesn't put out alot of amperage, which is what you need to start the car. If you are spiking down to 5-6 volts when you turn the key. I'd look at getting a new battery or borrow one from someone just to verify. The battery powers up ALOT of **** in an FD when you try to start it. Too many electronics in these cars fighting for voltage.

I dont know why the heck i havent metered the battery itsself when trying to crank. I guess the natural tendency is usually the starter clicks when the battery is dead ( you know...some sort of clue) so I didnt even think to look at it. Its just hard to comprehend cuz i switched on the bright lights and they were bright as ever, and the radio was coming on.

Any word on the 2 short beeps im hearing when the key is in the ignition?

Thanks
