How are 99 spec turbos compared to stock turbos and compared to a larger single turbo?

supposedly they are better designed, and flow better than the US twins, but they still do not compare to a single turbo.

you'll get more power for the same amount of boost from the 99 spec turbos, and the power is instant..........

a larger single will be very efficient, but you'll have some lag. single owns twin turbo system though

i speak from experience ive got em in my car. well martin knows how they feel too

similar to stock twins in response. prettymuch instant after 2500 the dyno showed up as around 20-25-30 hp increase along the powerband so its definatly snappier... but go with single and keep it on low boost till u work ur way up the fuel systems ladder. better bang for your buck id say

Where might I purchase a set of the 99 twins?

Is there a better option than paying the enormous price at the Mazda parts man?

I have a set also. They are faster to spool.

If your gonna get twins they are the set to have.

BNR=Blahhh

But they dont hold a candle to a single.

From what a remember they have a little small intake wheel, making spool up a little faster. I would still rather go single so much easier!

I have a set of '02 Spirit R turbos (these are the '99 spec with abraidable seals) that I bought from Jesse Lau. They have less than 100 miles on them. He told me that some guy in Japan bought his FD, and immediately drove it to a local shop to convert to single turbo. They are super clean. $2000 plus shipping.
