94 rx7 touring r2 fuel pressure problem. need your help please!
Hi as you see I have a 94 rx7 I just bought. before the car wouldnt turn on at all. I replaced all vacumm hoses under the manifold because they were all crispy. also the car wouldnt turn on at all because the alternator went out. It appears that the alternator has to do something with the ignition coils because after I replaced the alternator, car sparked. It is very interesting. It had 10 check engine light problems when i first got it. So after two weeks of work, I finally cleaned and replaced all sensors and hoses. I gave it a start and car idles. Happily almost all check engine light issues went away but 1. code 23 sometimes comes on. I followed this trouble codes list from service manual and it says it is fuel thermo sensor.
today I gave it a crank and car ran. yess!
however car dies after few seconds.
I went ahead and did the following check and repairs.
Compression test on rotor 1 = 110 psi
compression test on rotor 2 = 110 psi
therefore compression is good in both rotors
next I replaced the spark plugs, wires, ignition coils, alternator, and o2 sensor.
I checked the fuel pressure at the fuel rail without engine running and it is = 43 psi.
when engine is running fuel pressure drops to 0 and engine dies.
so I read the service manual and I cant seem to find if there is any correlation between the fuel thermo sensor and fuel pressure. Anyways, so my goal now is to let it run now.
here is a video I did. Let me know what you think. thank you.
