6 speed transmission upgrade
#1
hey im just finishing my winter upgrade on my car that i bought last year and one of the things that im in need of is a transmission. my car isnt completely done yet so i have yet to dyno it but im guessing it should put out in the 550 range so i need something that can handle some power. i definitely want to go with a dog gear setup for fast shifts and i am really hoping to find a good 6 speed. im wanting to have the first 5 gears lower then stock for my racing gears and then since my car is street driven i want to have my 6th gear for highway driving so about the same ratio as the factory 5th. ive look at lots of forums for trannies but every time i find one that i like, its not sold anymore, like the quaife gear kit and the guru gear kit. so anyone know of any good 6 speeds that are still available for sale that are reasonably priced? right now my last hope is the hks transmission but those are a little bit on the pricey side. let me know fd lovers

ya ive looked at that forum with the gto... looks nice. defenetally one to think about. do you know how the turbo 400 and skyline tranny would fit? i would think the turbo 400 would be too big and havent herd about any done from the skyline, it would have to be the gts-t model if you did it wouldnt it?

turbo 400 transmission is a automatic
personally I dont like having a 6 speed in a car im used to having 5 speeds, consider a beefier 5 speed instead, the gearing on a 6 speed makes for too much shifting. Its hard to explain until you drive both cars back to back.

Any 6 speed that will hold a nice 500 foot ponds custom fitted to a rotary will run you at 7k $$$. Allot of people want to run a 6 speed its just not a hole lot want to spend that much money.
It all depends on your budget, if you have the money you can put anything together.
