Hi guys my friend Drifter needs help with his 93 base model. Right now he doesn't have access to a computer so he asked me to make this post.

Here is what happened. About a week or so ago he was going to San Antonio to visit family. On his way down there he hit a shreded tire from an 18 wheeler. The tire busted his stock radiator and broke both of the upper mounts. Yesterday he installed a fluidyne aluminium radiator. The radiator went in fine but when he drove the car some new problems came up. The car starts and idles fine, but when subjected to boost(5psi) the a/f ratio goes lean and the car feels like it is losing power(horsepower). The wierd thing is that the car drives fine under vacuum.

He said that he has checked all of his intercooler piping, vacuum lines, and there is no check engine light. The car has the N1 catback, downpipe, and Greddy FMIC. Can anybody help him? Thanks guys.

We need some more info. With the windows down can you hear any sounds. Any boost leaking (whooshing), etc.? Does it do it under any boost, or only at 5psi? Does it just hesitate or does it still accelerate, just not very strongly. Try to be as descriptive as possible. As far as running lean, what are you using to determine that, an A/F ratio monitor?

As for hearing any noise, I was unable to ride in the car so I don't know about that. When under boost I beleive it will only go to 5psi then it starts to loose power. He said its like he downshifted and let off the gas. He is using an Autometer A/F ratio guage. I know they aren't the most accurate, but at least it tells you something. I think it might be his o2 sensor, but I thought the computer makes the car run rich if the o2 sensor goes bad. I hope this helps. Thanks lost time. I appreciate you taking some time to check this out.

from what i can tell there is no boost leaking from any lines or from the IC piping. I did not notice any unusual sounds, the engine will rev just fine and when i drive it as long as i stay in vac or under 5psi it is fine but after 5psi it cuts right off imedietly from what i can tell by my air fuel mix gauge it is runing rich but as soon as it cuts off or does what ever the hell its doing k the gauge reads lean. i dont now what it might be, i dont think its a fould out spark plug or any of my boost lines or the ic piping. could it be the turbos or maybe a fuel cut of sorts , detination.

any help would be great. thank's

if he is positive that no lines are loose/broken, then he may have broken one of the turbo control actuators, they are down by the lower part of the radiator, maybe the rad. smacked into it and busted it. Just a guess though

When it cuts out does it do it violently? Almost like you hit some kind of fuel cut?? If so, try this: Disconnect the negative battery cable, step on the brake pedal for thirty seconds. Hook the battery back up and take it for a drive. You may have inadvertantly ended up in limp-home mode. Give it a try, then let us know if it fixed it.

Have you checked the turbo actuator to make sure that they didn't sustain any damage from the road debris? Also check your front solinoids in the rack to make sure you didn't break a nipple.
