Egr Valve Problem....again
#1
I bought my Rx7 in 2003. I hear that the two weak points on stock Rx7s are the oil pressure sender and the EGR(Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve. Both were bad and I replaced both in 2003 with Mazda parts. Now, one year later, the engine light comes on again. I checked the flash codes and it's the EGR valve again. Is there a way to fool the ECU and bypass the EGR? Then I could disoconnect the negative battery connection and reconnect to reset everything. That would be too simple. But if there is a EGR fix for the stock setup please let my know.
Thanks,
Thanks,

My Fd has the same "problem", and as I was told from the previous owner, the 93's came with an EGR Valve but no sensor for the ECU, the 94's had EGR Valve and the signal for failure with the ECU, and then the 95's didn't even have an EGR...
I may be remembering things a bit off or wrong, but is yours a 94 as well? Might be the only "bad" thing about buying a 94, everything else rocks over the 93's :P

the ca 93's have a egr valve sensor too.
the egr valves seem to last 13months no matter what, even if the thing is tied out of the way in the engine bay. the ecu cycles the valve so it has to be there.
the best way to fix the egr is to replace the ecu, the power fc doesnt look for the egr.
the egr valve has no effect on an emissions test.
be sure to mail the bill for the egr to the epa, they are the reason its on the car
