here is the deal, i bought my car at an auction a year ago and i could tell it had been wrecked and fixed but there was no frame damage. i didnt ever expet a stock alarm on this car when i first got it but i noticed that it says "Theft Prevention" on the "born-on" sticker in the door jamb. i got to looking and realized that the driver side door handle had been changed. (so that is why i have two different keys to my car)

in the haynes manual it shows, what i assume to be, the S5 alarm behind the glove box. Is it in the sameplace in the S4, because it sure looks different if it does????

where is the disconnect on this thing??

do these systems even work? all i know about mine is that the light blinks once when i unlock the doors and flashes when the doors, hood, or hatch is open, and probably the sunroof.

Does an alarm go off if anyone tries to break in? Just wondering if its more than cosmetic.

yeah, if anything opens the lights start flashing and the horn starts blasting untill you put the key in teh door and turn it. I found that out one day when my window was down and i locked the door. And instead of unlocking the door with my key i just unlocked through the window. Right then the alarm went off .... I was totally unaware they even had stock alarms. So it was quite a surprise. :-p

not only that, but they also have an ignition cut, that is, if the alarm is going off, your car will not start, ask me how I know that =)

Besides the door locks, it works off the hood latch and trunk latch. So if its armed, and someone unlocks the doors, opens the hood/trunk, it goes off and kills the starter.

Does it have the security light in the console? It should blink with the doors locked and shut.

The reasont eh door sticker has theft prevention on it is just so show that it met all applicable federal madates for that particular year. Or some ****.

no, it didnt have lights when i got it but that doesnt mean it neve did. the center console was glued in.

there was nothing behing the gove compartment but i think it is definitely wired for it, the door handle and all have sensors on them. just no brain for the system
