OK on the way home today the tach flickered when i would let off the gas, then eventually quit working all together. So where do I start trying to figure out what is wrong with the bastard?

Thanks

Shitty, it died on you on the way home? I'd first start with the plug in the back of the gauge cluster.

Yea it puked out on the way home, i think it has a short somewhere, but I need to know what all controls the tach.

The tach gets its signal from the trailing coils.

My tach was hosed till I pulled my trailing coils off, stared at them, cleaned them and put them back on.

Works great now.

The connector may have worked its way loose on phinsup's car?

OK so a wire directly from the trailing coil to the back of the instrument panel. I either have a loose wire or a bad wire... worst casae I amy be able to re-wire from the trailing coil to the tach and life will be good.

I am going to play with it today after I wash and take some pics.
