When the sunroof is closing, there is a small L shaped catch which is pushed to allow the roof to go up and down (as opposed to sliding back and forth) I had the same problem on my sunroof, the small catch which gets pushed snapped and the roof wouldn't drop.
Solution: get a screwdriver and hammer and gently tap the black metallic part which slides along the rail and it will force it to close (not a long term solution)
OR
drop the roof lining, sunroof etc and replace the broken piece (its the balck picece which sildes along the silver rails. u have to drop the entire roof to fix this prob.
Maybe, just to be sure it is the same problem, pull the lining off of the actual sunroof (it just pulls off) and take the sunroof out (6 nuts) and u'll get a much better view of whats happening. The catch is about 1/2 way along the black piece and is spring loaded.
I'll try to find the old one i took out and take some photos for ya.
Gimme a yell if yer after some more info.
