I've got an 88 vert, prety much stock. Just got done fixing a bad wire on the tps a few weeks ago, Then it just started to rattle like a stuck lifter when i let off the throttle, bean doing that for a week and i cant pinpoint it with my stethescope. Now this weekend the sound suddenly got louder and it is almost constent above 2000 rpms and im losing power. had to park it till i find the problem, anyone had this before.

By the way its not smoking or showing any other symtems that i can find.

Do a compression test.

my 5th and 6th port actuators used to rattle like no other.

and them being stuck would put you losing power up top.

ive experienced a spun rotor bearing, that led to compression loss that would make a rod knock/rattle type of noise when running.

well i think ive found the problem, or maybe the cause.

after removing the trany"thinking i had a clutch problem" i found water coming out of the rear exaust port.

guess it is rebuild time.
