Ok, since i got the car the stock boost gauge has been off. It would slowly go up but i would never get out of vacuum, so i assumed that it was broken. My car has slowly been losing its kick it seems as i've been driving it, i lost to my friend's bone stock 240sx the other day, he walked me badly and i didnt even launch that bad. My car barely has its turbo kick anymore it seems. Anyways one day I park my car, and rev the engine and i notice the boost gauge shows boost building even at idle. THen i take the car out and its a whole new beast definitely boosting. Anyways last few times i've driven it its gone and it feels like an n/a again.

What could this be? Clogged cats? Some sort of weird wastegate problem?

I have no performance mods however i do not have emissions, p/s, a/c or any of that other mumbo jumbo. The car is an 89 t2 and the stock boost controller has been removed with the rats nest and the nipples capped off. However the vacuum line still goes from the compressor side of the turbo to the wastegate but the T part of it has been capped.

I've got 72k miles, the first thing i checked was the vacuum lines and my intercooler stuff but I guess i can check again. I would get rid of cats but i wanna awit till i get a new exhaust instead of just having someone weld on one for cheap because then the bolt up part of my exhaust goes away and its a nasty permanant weld thing.

So, how do you control boost?

I'm not sure but i think that makes my car just like a s4 and i boost 5.5

When i put the mbc in my car i was only boosting 5.5 and even if i turned the **** my boost wouldnt go up anymore than 5.5. The controller was awkward, in a bad spot, and i couldnt figure out how to use it so i took it out again.
