Hello guys

Glad I found this forum!! Just bought an 87 NA last night and I hate the play on the oem shifter. Do any of your know of a good short throw shifter that will fit my rx7?

This car is completely stock but very clean and runs great. I think the first mod (aside from a new shifter will be a new exaust. I am leaning towards the Borla

T-304 Stainless. Any of you have tjis exhaust installed. I want a nice deep note but also good performance

thanks

2 things:

The play in your shifter is caused by bad bushings, which you can get from a Mazda dealer or www.mazdatrix.com for around $15 for the set of 4.

Also, short throw shifters cause a pretty annoying in about 1/3 of all FC's, no matter what you do to try and avoid it.

That said, mazdatrix sells the shifters, so that's a good place to start looking.

I don't know about the borla. The thing with Rx-7 is that the exhaust is much hotter than that of a pist-on. So most glass pack mufflers will melt. You need to get mufflers that were designed for the rotary. My fav. are the Racing Beats www.racingbeat.com But search around, there are 5-8 good brands for our cars out there.

If you want an inexpensive (and loud) exhaust and don't mind single exit, check out the catback at http://www.corksport.com

Borlas are all stainless steel, no glass packing.

I have my Borlas for so long I cant remember exactly when

I put them on the car, I think like 5-6 years ago.

An inexpensive way to get a "shorter" shift feeling is to change out the ****. I purchased a Team Voodoo shift **** from Team Voodoo website.

Here's a pic of the **** I purchased, it lowered the overall lenght of my shifter and has a great feel. BTW - this is a picture from their website, I do not have an S2000.....
