For those of you S5 TII owners with ABS, what do you think of the ABS system? Does it work well, decently, or should Mazda be slapped for putting it on the car in the first place?

i have it and it works well on my car. I was at one point going to take it out for simplicity. But i changed my mind. When i dont want to use it, i just pull the fuse. But works well for me.

Having raced cars in Autocross with ('00 Mustnag GT and '03 Mini Cooper in sig) and without (My RX-7) I wish my RX-7 had ABS.

I my Autocross experience I find that with ABS I can brake later and brake into my turns (trail braking) with ease.

Without ABS I have to brake earlier and in a straight line. If I brake too hard too late I risk flatspotting a tire. I did just that at an Autocross the tire was relativly new and it cost me $200 to replace it.

I wish I had ABS.

Works great. Have only needed it a couple of times in the 15 years I've had my S5 TII, but it works great. Naturally it adjusts for any difference in caliper operation.

the system works great. It doesn't start kicking in until you are really really locking them up.

The only bad part is that the system leaks. THe pump leaks... they all do they sit ontop of the red hot turbo. My leaks. I have to do something about it. I would like to keep it except i can't find a GOOD pump because all the used ones are garbage like my. A new one is 1100 USD from mazdaspeed motorsports. Rebuilt ones from A-1 Cardone are 900 bucks.

I wonder what about the Jsepc cars. They have ABS... the engine bay is reversed so the pump would be away from the turbo no?

I pulled all my ABS crap a long time ago. It was leaking and I didnt want it in there anyways.

I know Im not as good as ABS is at controlling the brakes, but I dont like the idea of relying on something to help cover up my inabilities as a driver.

Do you feel its worth the potential hassle? I have a complete ABS system im considering putting on my GTU when I do the 4 piston brakes and TII driveline.

does the complete abs system include the master cylinder and lines? cause i BELIEVE the fittings on the lines are different sizes and as is obvious the lines are bent differently.
