About a week ago I was told by a friend that there was a RX-7 in the area that was for sale. Said it was Turbo car, has a harness problem and the kid gave up on it. I finally got a phone number for the guy selling it on Thursday evening. I do not know the area that well and I was unsure about how to get where it was. So the buddy called, no answer on Saturday, we left a message to return the call. Guy calls back and says the car is still for sale and it is a turbo, but he is unsure of the year, maybe 88 or 89. So we hop in the buddies expedition and head out. Roll into the guys driveway and there it sits, 1988 Turbo II w/ 5 speed. I expect a 20 something kid to come walking out, boy was I surprised to see a 40+ yr old man come out.

The story goes like this, the kid that owned the car spent a lot of money on the car, to include a streetport, new turbo, 5 speed rebuild, new exhaust, tires etc etc. Something happend in the wiring or computer and the car will not start. So the kid got fed up and gave it to the guy. The car has been in his garage for the past 4 years, and was put in the yard about 6 months ago, rust free and beautiful. There are about $7000 worth of receipts in the car, for the motor, the transmission and other stuff, plus the receipt when the kid bought the car which was another $8000. I looked through the folder of all the receipts and just shook my head. Now being that the guy is a big V8 guy he was clueless about the secrets of the triangles. I looked over the car quickly and snapped a few pictures. I wanted to get out of there before the guy realized what he had. If I had started to dig he might see my excitement on what was in front of me. So we shook hands, I agreed to buy the car and we parted ways.

I paid $500 for the car....

Thanks J9, I may have to take you up on that, I want to get it here to the house and figure out what all has been done. Since there was no battery in it, I did not want to get it running there and have the guychange his mind, I just want to get it out of the clutches of the man, he wanted to drop a V8 in it :P
