how do u know if ure cat is plugged

it'll accelerate like *** at all times, not a lot of exhaust will be coming out the tailpipe, the cat will turn orange if the car runs long enough, umm couple other things too.

On a similar note, how can you tell if a resonator's packing has melted? A shop installed for me a 2" ID resonator, but didn't specify what it was made of.

if its really really plugged, you can pull the o2 sensor out to relieve some of backpressure. If its much improved driving around the block with no oxy sensor, the cat is a solid mass of ceramic crap.

it would just get louder, if its really badly melted it will melt closed
