Omp Removal
#1
ok thinking about removing my omp.
is it safer to have the omp or premix?
also what would i premix with and what would be a good ratio. im looking for safest ratio not best performance because i cant even redline my gears due to my wastegate problem so im just trying to keep it alive, especially if i happen to slip and let it overboost

oh and also would this mean i have to fillmy tank everytime and let it go all the way down to get a good mix/ratio?
and i heard the pump has to remain plugged in/in the car, is this true, anyway to get aroudn it?

I know for any questions you have about premix, there's a pinned topic by 1Revvin7 in 2nd Gen Faqs: Premix/Oil Topic
As long as you add the correct amount of premix along with fuel you should be fine with fill-ups. But I know with chainsaws, and other two-strokes, the oil gradually settles out from the fuel. It might have been due to cheap premix, and maybe the constant cycling of fuel through the fuel-injector lines fixes this. Just a musing by someone completely clueless to the truth... Anyway, hope i helped.

What the hell....this is a good a place as any on the specifics of removing your OMP, ESPECIALLY on a S5.
First off, the stuff pertinent to all FC's. The oil feed line for the OMP must be plugged if you remove the drive gear(and still recommended if you dont). The oil feed line is the small hole thats on the right hand side of the front cover where the front cover and block bolt together. Remember the hole that youre not supposed to get gasket sealer in when putting on a front cover gasket? Thats the one that needs to be plugged. I prefer to tap the hole in the front cover, and install a set screw with locktite. Then make sure theres plenty of gasket maker around that hole when you install the front cover. If its a S4, put a block off plate where the OMP was, and youre done. If its an S5, keep reading.
S5 specific. If youre using the stock ECU, it will go apeshit if the OMP isnt present and properly functioning. So heres how it needs to be done. You must take the OMP off, and take the cover panel off the side. Pull out all the gears from the inside. You want to be left with the case, the stepper motor, the sensor, and the part that the stepper motor pushes on, and the sensor reads from. You should be left with a nice collection of gears and springs. Then take 4 solid bolts, and put in place of the banjo bolts/oil injection lines. Then put it back in the stock spot(for convienence), and enjoy. If you fail to remove the gears from the inside of the OMP, it will sieze, and you will get an error code, and limp home mode every 7 minutes without fail, at which time you can shut off the car, restart, and enjoy another 7 minutes.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask, Ive got this down to an art.
