oil leak after downtime.. need help asap!
#1
ok so my friend and i went to start up the car after 2 - 3 months of downtime.
first we had a fuel leak from the rear secondary injector. no big deal, was just a damaged o-ring. fixed this problem and went back in to start the car...
next problem is where we're stuck...
i went in to start the car again while my friend watched the engine to make sure all was well (or not).
car turned over just fine. it sounded ok (not quite as loud as i remember). as soon as it finally fired up my friend yelled at me to kill it because there was a bad oil leak. he said the leak looked like it was coming from between the block and LIM and that it was a large jet about 3 fingers thick. my first thought was one or both of the oil injectors on the LIM (had to replace them due to broken lines). however i don't think this is it. the lines are still completely clear and it doesn't look like any oil went through them at all. we pulled the UIM/TB off and there was oil sitting in the little nooks between the LIM and block, mostly on the front side.
the only thing i can think of is that maybe one or more of the bolts on the LIM didn't get torqued down enough and caused a leak. i honestly don't know though. there were no other leaks from there at that time.
just some more info...
car is a 91 TII.
during downtime we did the following things:
removed rats nest, sent injectors to be cleaned, new fuel lines and filter, new vacuum lines, cleaned the turbo, ported the wastegate, did some wiring (seems irrelevant), new throttle cable, new gaskets between UIM/LIM and LIM/block, new coolant o-rings.. i can't think of anything else right now..
the vacuum lines are set up;
1 line from the LIM to the FPR
1 line from the LIM to the BOV
1 line from the UIM spliced to the pressure sensor and boost gauge
1 big line from TB to the oil injectors
1 line from LIM to brake booster
all other vac lines are capped
i really need some help. anything you can do to help is really appreciated. thanks!!!

that was my next thought... but i'm pretty sure it wouldn't have come from the top of the turbo, possibly the bottom. reason being is i checked the top and it was dry. i don't understand how all that oil would have gotten up where it did if it had shot out of there...
