No Acceleration / Low End Power
#1
last week i started my s5 N/A up and it had lost all power over night. 0-30mph is like 11 seconds, damn slow. i have been trying to figure out what is going on this is what i have done so far:
i have check compression all 3 sides of both rotors are above 90psi, slighty higher than when i first got the car.
i have fuel, just rewired pump so now it gets 12.5v at idle. air / fuel gauge shows rich while acceleration, so its not starving for fuel. i also put a new fuel filter in.
i have spark, check first with a timing light on each of the wires. i also check for spark by pulling the plugs one by one and setting them on the strut tower while cranking. both test show that i am getting spark.
i checked timing its dead on. i have not restabbed the CAS but i don't think that would matter if the timing is good already.
i re-grounded both coils, pressure sensor, the engine, BUT not the ECU. i think it would help to ground the ECU but i don't think that will solve my problem.
i tested the TPS, i reset the tps. both as the FSM says and also to 1 Ohm. and it is within specs according to the manual.
so the only thing i could think of is that the 5th/6th ports are stuck open.
from searching i should be able to remove the actuators and clean them up, see if they move when i blow into them. if those are fine i guess the ports are stuck open, the FSM says you need to remove the manifold but i don't want to that, its cold out with no garage. i heard people spraying carb cleaner in there and trying to break them free. is that my only option?

you can access the aux port linkage without removing anything, just look on the lower ijntake manifold (just above the exhaust) you'll see the two actuators, try moving them in and out which will in turn rotate the aux port sleeves inside the engine... if they move without ridiculous amounts of force they are not stuck.
you should also check the VDI.
you should also check the VDI.

oh yeh left that part out, i took the acr schaumberg mazda in illinois to talk with eric davis, awsome rx7 mechanic and he said it was a clogged cat because when you rev the engine it would rev to like 1500 fast then it would hit a brick wall and hang there and slowly rise. but since he looked at it i have cut off the crappy catco cat that was put on there and not much has changed. could the collector be clogged somehow.
