Ok, I am new to this board, and soon to be new to the collection of people driving an RX7, so, I have some simple questions for the car gurus in the group, the car I am looking at is a white '90 GTU, it appears to be in fairly good condition, it runs well (sooo much fun to hit the go pedal, I love test driving it) and seems to be decent inside and out, my questions are: they are asking $4000 for the car, but I imagine I can get it down to about $3500 or so, how badly am I getting ripped off? what trim level is the GTU? lowest, highest, middle, basically, what kind of modding options am I getting myself into? what kind of gas mileage should I expect, for stock at least, and lastly, how much of a PITA would it be to fix the sun roof? ( I hear the motor working, but it doesn't open, possibly off the track?) Whew, ok, that was a lot of questions, and now that I think about it, this may belong in the Faq section, but I will try here first. Thanks in advance, and please, try to convince me that I am making the right decision.

hey...whats up...hmmm, things to look for...
how many miles? still original motor? if it was well taken care of and redlined occasionally it should be in good shape even if over 100K. you "should" have a compression test done to see if its in good shape for sure...but make sure it still starts up fine once warmed up (occasionally these cars have hot start problems due to leaky injectors causing flooding)
also, concerning the sunroof. are you pushing up at all on the roof when pushing the button to open it? sometimes they need a flip push upward in order to get the thing rolling. but if thats not helping it may need some adjustment. i'm not sure what exactly is involved with that though...
GTU was more a base model thru the 89-90 years. i'm guessing it has no leather, and a blue dash if the exterior color is white.
how is the body?...small dings, scratches, and small spots of rust on the panels or underneath?
gas mileage will be ok...depending on what you're used to...if you drive a civic this will be bad news, hahaha. on my 91 n/a i usually get around 17 in town...and around 26 on the highway...
what reall counts is if YOU like the car. does it fit its duty and youre lifestyle? there's lots of info available online to get tips from...but yeah, make sure you look it over carefully before making the final decision...good luck man!
