Need Some Help With The Cat, Please
#1
I have my cat off and on the bench, the guts are solid and in good shape. I was hoping they would be shot. So how do I get everything out? I know a guy at a local shop that would make me a straight pipe for 50 bucks, but I want to leave it on the car just in case I get pulled over. I plan on removing the y pipe and coming straight back from the cat with 2 1/2 pipe to a single muff. Will this set up be too loud? Please tell me what to do so I can get my car back together.
thanks

just take a long sturdy metal rod or piece of pipe and and a hammer and stand the cat up with the bolt on the ends of the studs to protect them from being ruined. and just knock all that crap out it takes about 15 minutes to do, but it's well worth it don't give up and just keep breaking up all the pieces til they just fall out, simple as that.
Hope that helps, or even makes sense...

if you use a universal muffler watch out one good back fire and say good bye to it, been there done that, on my old car...Maybe one of the one piece mufflers on ebay, they look alright just type 'rx7 muffler' or 'mazda muffler' look for one with 2.5 inlet.
I've consider it, but i couldn't bring myself to replacing my racing beat muffler even though i think it looks 'restrictive' :smirk:

Never thought about headers. I have always heard that they are too loud for street use.

no not too loud, as long as you have a muffler there, i mean i have a 13B racing beat header, striaght 2 1/2" pipe all the way back to a racing beat muffler, it's not loud at all, i'd say 25% louder then stock, not loud though! well worth it for the power increase
