i changed out my pads last week because they started really squeaking. when i changed them i found out a funny thing. apparently the (insert derrogatory term here) person who did this before me left out some parts. the most important being the springs that prevent the pads from rubbing up against the rotor all the time. :whatsthat: so my pads are constantly rubbing against the rotors (well maybe not constantly but they squeak when im not braking alot)

i want to do a 4 piston conversion but don't know what is involved. i know i'll need the calipers and new brake line but is there anything after that. :dontgetit:

btw does anyone have the springs for the rear calipers i need those too.

I am doing the 4 piston swap myself.

You need the calipers obviously, the pads, rotors and lines. Everything else is cool.

How much does that switch run at? I'm getting kinda interested in doing that. Plus ive been leaking some brake fluid out the left rear for quite some while and I'd rather just replace the whole system. Anyone know how much that will cost to swap it?

Mazdatrix sells the calipers at about 400 apiece :throwupen:

then you have to buy the lines, $84 for ss. i totaled it up on the shopping cart and this was the total $848.28 + shipping and tax. WOW im gonna try to find some calipers from somebody for cheap and maybe rebuild them.

Any work yourself ought to be better than brake check. i would have done it myself, but being a poor college student, i dont have the proper tools for room. anyway, they charged something like $400 for new pad installation and machining the rotors. So i get my car, and on the way home that evening the front brake starts making clinking sounds when i push the breaks. Well, I pull off the road and into a hotel parking lot. it seems the moron who put the caliper back on forgot a screw or two and the caliper was handing on by one bolt. needless to say, the caliper got stuck when i tried to go in reverse, so i had to have it towed back to brake check. At least they paid for it all, including the tow. never going back there. you think that a place specializing in brakes wouldnt do something as life treatening as screwing up a brake job. morons indeed.

umm you should be able to purchase used calipers and lines for about $100 i got mine from http://www.mazdarecycling.com . the rotors are the same for the fronts for all 5 lug cars. the piston front calipers are a little trickier than the single piston. you will notice a large difference with the 4 pot up front. i know i did
