Ok my fan clucth is gone! Now I wanted to go ahead and remove the engine driven fan and go straight to an electric fan . Any one know of any write up or and other info an how to do this? I already got rid of that factory intake setup and what I did was make a little bracket to hold the filter down with the top cover off. now from what I see once that factory fan shroud is gone it will open up alot of room. and if any one has any dimensions I could use to determine the size of fan to buy that would help alot. :bigok:

good start.

I have that same fan, it pulls some crazy air. When it blows I can hear the wind over the RB exhaust at idle.

thats an old wives tale, if you get the right sized fan (over 2000cfm) its fine

my 7 ran hotter before I put the electric fan on, but my radiator wasnt working too well, it needed to be replaced, had a very very small leak that would let some steam out intermittently and kick the buzzer on.

I don't believe the stuff about 7's overheating with the flexalite fan, this fan pulls more cfm than my mechanical did, you have to hear this thing to understand. I can stand behind the car and feel hot wind coming out from underneathe if I have shorts on. It gets pretty nasty here in summer and I never had problems with the fan, worked great. As long as you adjust the thermostat properly it's fine.

When it's running I could place my hand in front of the radiator and feel a significant amount of air being sucked through the radiator, that never ever was possible with my stock fan.

Actually at idle... when you need the fan the most a good electric fan will push more cfm then a belt driven fan.

Man, that fan and install is the way to do it. I just went with a Mr. Gasket 16" from Summit for I think it was $70. It still keeps it plenty cool year round, even after a hard drive in the hottest weather.
