Unhappy

I own a 1986 RX7 GXL, the battery died in it a few days ago, so I replaced the battery. The problem is when the new battery was hooked up the 80 amp "MAIN" fuse under the hood blew. I then tried another fuse, and had the same problem. I am not sure if this is keeping it from starting, but there seems to be power getting to the rest of the car, lights, etc. Any help with this problem is greatly appreciated.

You put the wires on the correct terminals, right?

Wierd story- I used to have both battery cables on my Jeep black, I was giving a neighboor a jump start, I hooked his car up, and he hooked my Jeep, he had the cables on reverse, I realized he did it, and switched it back. Then like a week or so later, I get this odd electrical problem that I cannot figure out for the life of me, replaced all kinds of crap, luckily for me on that truck, everything was at the local parts store and very cheap too might I add, still no good. It turns out my battery had actually reverse polarity itself, I put a new battery in and everything was good again, just thought I would share this story.

I once gave a guy in Queens a jump start, and he had the wires reversed on his battery. Luckily I caught it before we both got stuck.

I would say you blew the diodes out of your alternator.

You'd be lucky you didn't blow the ECU...
