Ive been trying to avoid this till I go to the muffler shop on sunday, but everytime i shift theres a loud clunking noise. Could it be my driveshaft, shocks? My buddy told me not to worry until we go to the muffler shop and I'm not driving the car around till then. But do you guys have any suggestions on what it could be.

BTW: This is a great place. You guys are so helpful

If you have vibrations on cruising at a certain speed along with this clunking noise when shifting, so it could be one of your driveshaft joint or both.

The clunking noise may be a bad differential mount, or maybe even some extra play in the rear. I have other problems myself. My car has started to steer a littler bit on it's own. I seem to have too much play in my steering.

No it just makes that clunk when I shift, not while im cruising at any speed. Also yeah my steering is off but i just have to get my steering aligned (sp?).

does it happen when u push in the clutch, or just when u shift. I would have to agree with ace sounds like a differential mount

You could also drive around and then suddenly let off of the gas. I get some clunking in the rear when that happens, but it's just play in the rear, not the mount.

You can tell if there's play in the rear if the wheels can be rotated a little bit when they're not supposed to. You can try looking underneath the car at the mount to see if it's bad.
