ok i have an 88 se and on the upper part of the intake manifold there 2 colant lines that run to this little peice that has a conector on it. the place where the hoses go conected look reall bad and i can see anti freeze on and around it. Im scared if i take out the hoses that the little metal pipes will be rusted and break it. has any one had this problem and if that little thing breaks can it be changed?

Its pretty hard to break those off. What you can do to easily get them off is to cut the line above the connector, then wedge a screwdriver between the connector and remaining hose to loosen it.

or use pair of pliers to grab it and twist the hose. it will break the seal between the hose and the metal pipe. it'd would be pretty hard to break the metal nipple

I just took my manifolds off, and replaced all the hoses...what you describe worked every time, except with plastic nipples... those broke
