I'll start with a little background info. I have a base model 1987 non-turbo (I think it's a base model because it has the 4 lug wheels and no power steering). I've had the car since 1994, but haven't driven it in the last 4 years because it has been stored in a garage in Europe. I plan on moving back to Europe in early 2003. The last time I drove the car the transmission felt like it was starting to go and the motor was feeling a little weak. I just bought a new car for over there, so the RX-7 is now going to be more of a toy then a daily driver. What I would like to know is what is involved in either dropping a 2nd gen turbo motor in it, or better yet fitting a 3rd gen motor and trans in it. I only really need to know what parts are needed for each of the previous 2 options, and what kind of work is involved. I've also been doing a little research in dropping either a small block chevy or Grand National motor in the car, what are your thoughts on taking that route.

I appreciate any help you guys can provide.

well droping a 13bt in is easiest of your plans. Youd need the motor tranny rearend from a turbo car and the ecu wired in or go to a stand alone.

Any idea where I could get all the parts that I need? Being that everything is going to be shipped over seas, I need to get everything from someplace reputable. I don't want to buy parts ship them over then install them only to find out that I was sold defective parts.

www.MisRed.com gave me the idea for the GN conversion. His best time according to the site is 12.1 on a pretty much stock GN motor. WIth a few upgrades a GN motor should make enough power to put you in the high 10's low 11's. All the while maintaining a decent degree of streetability.
