Just got an S5 manifold for my S4 , I've found two installation guides:

http://howto.globalvicinity.com/gv_w...i=4...p;co=1&vi=1

&

http://homepage.mac.com/carldavis/intake.html

Has anyone used either one? Or recommend either of them? Also what is the general consensus on using the lower intake manifold?

I've read that the VDI is on the s5 upper intake manifold, and that the s4 lower intake manifold flows better. So what's the recommended setup all S5 manifold or S4/S5 hybrid manifold? Thanks!

(Note: I want to keep the air pump and most of the emissions junk I live in MA)

This is good for about 10hp so I should be nearly on par with S5's, in terms of hp, after the swap (i think). I'm pretty pump up about this manifold looks like good stuff!

we used the s5 lower with s4 uppper and vice versa on the race car, the bolt pattern is the same except for the rearmost stud, which you can just remove.

if you wanna keep all the emissions, i THINK you can just swap upper intakes, as all the emissions crap is on the lower

Thanks for the details. I know the VDI is up top which what I'm interested in, as that's what gives you better TQ & HP. Keeping the emissions junk just saves me the headache latter. After looking at the guides it almost seems easier to use the S4 LIM and the S5 UIM.

Does anyone recommend one guide over the other?

havent read either one. only remotely tricky part, is figuring out the 4-5 vacuum lines, and how to open the vdi

One thing I'm a little about is the Fuel rail fittings and the VDI activation (I'm keeping my air pump so I should be able to use a stock actuator with an RPM switch, i think...)
