diving further into the engine today, pulled the injectors for cleaning and inspection.....guess what i found on the primary rail?

as you can see, the one on the left is a late zenki high impedence injector and the one on the right is an early zenki low impedence injector. Even though the tec2 can run either , the pairs have to be matched....thanks again previous owner jackass, yet another thing that you or the shop or whoever did wrong. This explains ALOT as to why my car was very inconsistant in tuning and why the tuning changes never seemed to affect the car in the way I thought they should in idle tuning and partial throttle cruising.

my question for now is, if i have two fuel rails and I pull the pulsation damper off one, is the opposide side fitting a replacement for it? free pulsation damper elimination kit maybe?

It always amazes me that complete ignorance will not keep some people from trying to fix something about which they know nothing.

I'm not sure I understand your question. Can you flesh it out a little? "Opposite side fitting"?

The opposite side banjo fitting and bolt will work. Thats if you fuel rail has the same female thread diameter on each side. My black t2 came to my with mismatched injectors also.

Isn't runnning a car without a Pulsation Dampener bad? I remember reading that in certain situations in can actually lean out the fuel going to the injectors and detonate. Never actually heard of it happening though. Anyone?

I've heard in theory that it makes the injectors go bad faster, but never seen any negative side effects. There are several guys on here who have run w/o a pd for years. All those guys running custom fuel setups have deleted it.

Thats what I thought. I had heard that from a few places though but figured if it was such a problem then why are a lot of people doing it. Meh, guess its just one of those myths.

we tuned a honda (remember they use the same damper as the s4) with large injectors, and a fuel pressure guage, and you could see heard and feel the pulsations, its loud and like a hammer. the pressure on this particular car would vary 10psi while it was idling.

No PD is a little rough on everything.. Fuel pump, injectors.. Shortens the life a little bit..
