I am looking at a couple ignitions. one is Mallory HyFire VI Digital CD Ignition. i have two questions about this one.

1.It says something about you cant use it on distributerless ignitions.... but will it work with our cars?

2. The RPM window switch, could i use that to rig up a shift light?

I am also looking at the Crane HI-6 CD and MSD 6AL CD. i was favoring the Mallory ignition becuase of the two stage rev limit (<<MSD looks to also have this)and RPM window switch, but will it work? the MSD also says u cant use it with distributorless ignitions, but i know people have them on their cars, so i just want to make sure before i spend 200$ that it will work.

the msd , crane will not work properly specialy with the revlimiter, the only box i found to work well was the jacobs box. the reason the rev limit does not work is becuase the hot box fires leading and not the trailing coils and plainly shuts down the spark. you also do not need any hot box for the trialing, only leading.

i beg to differ on the stock rev limiter,,,,,,,,,,,,, my s5 and alot of other s4 and s5s that i do work on do not have factory revlimiters,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, there has only been one car that i worked on and drove that had one , it was a 86 gxl.

now with the help of a wolf 3d i now have a properly operating rev limiter wich i hate but with the motor not broken in and now plainly broken i will keep it at 6500 rpm untill the new motor is assembled and fully tuned on the dyno and properly broken in.

Rev limiters are for safety, you don't actually use them, they save you just incase

I'd always set one up

Wouldnt you be able to use any system as long as you have 2 boxes? Leading/Trailing?
