ok so today, finally, i got my car to idle. and it will stay at idle for however long i want it to. but as soon as i touch the gas pedal the car just dies... it smells like gas, so i am tyhinking that it has something to do with the A/F but i dont know... it seems like the car isnt getting the proper amount of air into the engine and is just flooding itself.

i am soo close to getting my first t2 on the road, please help

Ah, it sounds likt the problem I am having with my T2. I have an aftermarket A/F on it and I know it opens up when you barely open the throttle. I know it is getting too much fuel because when you barely hit the pedal, it starts shooting flames and popping out of the exhaust.

my friends 10ae had that problem. we replaced the afm and it idled and ran fine after that, the spring on it was messed up so barely any air was getting in the car. since there was no air it just flooded and died lol. try that, hope it works. maybe you have a friend with an rx7 you can try it on.

First thing I would do is check/change sparkplugs. Mine fouled up once and the symptoms I had sound similar to yours.
