Hard To Shift Into 2nd, Bent Shift Fork?
#1
Have any of you herd of a bent shift fork before?
I took my T2 trans all apart expecting to find a worn 2nd gear synchro but it's well in spec. Could the gear lube (Mobil 1) be too slippery to allow the synchro to seat on the cone? I've been told that it's possible to bend a shift fork, ever herd of this happening in a T2 trans before?

It's absolutly possible to bend a shift fork, although I haven't had the pleasure in an RX-7 trans. I had trouble getting mine into third before I had the trans rebuilt and it was, in fact, the synchro that caused the problem.

Thanks for the responses guys.
89rag- I wonder if the synchro can just look fine but really be bad?
vosko- what kind of bad things have you herd about mobil 1 gear lube?
CrassFC3S- maybe you're just shifting too fast when at those high rpms?
