I have a flooding problem every time I shut the car off. When I finally get it started it runs fine until I shut it off again. I don't know much about these motors, so any ideas would be helpful. The only thing I can think of is maybe a stuck injector...Thanks

you dont touch the gas pedal before you go to start it,do you?

cause if you do it will flood every time (at least mine does).

the fuel inj.s leak because the pressure from the fuel pump doesn't bleed off after the engine is shut off...after a while the inj's get old and drip because of all the pressure behind them.

either you need a "bleed-off valve" or

some way to cut out the fuel pump while killing or starting the engine

there's a few ways to do one of these things...or

replace the fuel injectors

Why would you touch the gas pedal to start the car anyhow? although they say if you floor the pedal then start it it wont flood, never tried it yet. If you are flooding everytime, there is something wrong though, maybe a leaky injector, low compression, also try a battery with more cranking amps.

only on 89-91 cars can you hold the accelerator to the floor to deflood minor flooding. if you flood it real bad you have to do the fuse trick. on 86-88 the TPS is not full range so don't touch the pedal or you will only flood it more! if nothing else crank with the egi fuse removed then reinstall and it should start right up

Or install my custom switch so you dont have to pull fuses anymore, and it deters theft.

a can of carb cleaner and blowing out with compressed air helps out.

i have an 89 and 93 . the only time i had to pull the fuse was the day i got it. the guy flooded it so bad it was spraying fuel out the side of the engine for about 10mins of cranking. i had a small flooding problem that went away the more i drove it. i love the full range TPS no more fuse pulling
