Well I got my quote back from the driveshaft shop down in NC for my aluminium driveshaft I wanted built to handle high RPMs, decent torque and good power..while saving weight. The guys are good to deal with and seem to know what they are talking about! I know the stock driveshaft will probably put up with my abuse, but I'm building the car all around with new parts, so I didn't want to throw a used driveshaft in w/ unknown mileage, blah blah.. so anyways... now that I got that quote I'm looking into some safety things I'd like to have as well.
I'm looking at the competition engineering driveshaft loop that is basically universal and is around $40 from summit. No biggie on that...my problem is trying to find a scatter shield for the 13B bellhousing, or even an SFI certified replacement bellhousing.
Anybody running any of this equipment or know a good place to call to have it made up? I'm around a lot of domestic drag cars, but the guys who run those shops don't have much to help a "little weedwacker" like me,lol.... any help is appreciated.

Why can't the drag guys help out? A propshaft is a propshaft. Anyway IMO 1 or 2 hoops of 6mm flat should see you, I've seen the damage done by a loose prop in a car like mine, and the prop hadn't even penetrated 2mm aluminium sheet. The last thing I want to do is discourage safety measures, but from the time it fails to the time you bring the car to a halt wondering what that huge racket is, I doubt it'll do that much damage.
I would have thought that well secured loops fixed as close to the prop itself to limit the "flailing about" radius as much as possible would be your best bet, but i'm not basing it on any experience etc.

The drag guys can help with the shaft loops, that's really not a bid deal, i figured I'd mention it incase anybody had experience w/ other brands,etc.
My main thing is the scatter shield...I can't find any for the rx7s..

Ballistic blankets would probably work, but I don't believe many tracks will accept that as a compliant to their rules. Australia still allows them, but NHRA, IDRA, IHRA I believe all require some form of SFI approved shield or bellhousing.
Like I said, I don't plan on professionally competing this car in drag racing, so I'm not concerned...but if drift sanctioning bodies start requiring a shield...I'm screwed,lol. I might do the blanket for now, just for my peace of mind,lol. I have had a hard time finding those as well though..I found one on an aussie site for like $300... I'll keep looking.

Summit sells an RCI blanket for $80. It's SFI 4.1 rated. Only negative I've heard of them is that they can soak up fluids and get nasty over time.

Thanks man...i'll take a look at them..i'm out of town for a week, but i really want to get my car back to the garage and get my powertrain back in it, lol...
I know the other concern w/ the blankets is the ability to catch fire after soaking fluids, etc... lots of research to be done, lol... thanks again.

id reccommend 2 driveshaft loops, most people only run one, but for absolute saftey id say run one by each ujoint, that way whichever one lets go you minimize damage.
as for the trans scatter shield, like C. Ludwig said, id start with the RCI Blanket, it's SFI rated so you should be able to get past the rules, and as long as you're not leaking fluids you should be fine.
I mean...if youre leaking flammable fluids i think youd have bigger problems then just the blanket catching fire, ya know?
but yea, thats my exact planned setup lol.
