Using the stock gauge? More than likely it's not accurate. They're more useful just to show you fluctuations in oil pressure rather than exact figures. An aftermarket, mechanical gauge can verify.

Water temp is very important.

I wouldn't recomend running an oil pressure guage on an a-pillar. The reason I say this is because the guage actually has oil going to it and if the line comes off it will spray oil all over the inside of your car. If you're going to use a mechanical guage I would recomend mounting it on your hood or somewhere else on the outside so that you don't get oil on the interior.

One time my stock gauge read high for a while, then after a week or so it read normal again. I think it must have been a bad connection, because it happened right after i washed the engine compartment.

I was tearing into my 4Runner yesterday, it has an identical oil pressure sensor, except that it came with a rubber shroud around the sensor and open wire connection. My leaky greasy dirty 200K off-roading engine had an absolutely SHINY sensor under that shroud, and the open electrical connection was clean and corrosion free. Might be something to look for if anyone is having sensor problems.

he can just get a decent electric one for the A pillar.

it's a good idea to have a mechanical gauge under the hood too though.
