Car Starting Problems, Help Me Please!
#1
So here is the deal. I was given this 1987 rx-7 because it does'nt run but it use to, but poorly. It was stalling when you let go of the gas and has a bad exhaust system. So I have tried the EFI fuse trick, pull starting it, and the ATF trick but all it does is try starting and it sounds like it almost starts but it kind of just sputters. The top two spark plugs always have this black gas smelling liquid on them, but not the bottom ones. It has a brand new battery, spark plugs, spark plug wires, and starter. It has a 13B 2 rotor engine in it. And for some reason it only sputters when I have the #1 spark plugs on the side next to the rear instead of the front bumper. Can anyone help me, any comments would be greatly appreciated cause I am only 17, so I don't know much about these things.

hopefully you didnt' cross the spark plug wires. make sure the is no vacumm leaks after the Air flow meter.
Make sure you have the 2 lower spark plug wires connected to the leading coil which is next to the battery. It doesn't really matter if you cross one and two on the leading.
Make sure the upper 2 spark plugs which are the trailing are pluged into the trailing coil next to the brake master cylinder. Make sure these are not crossed. Make sure number one coil goes to number 1/front rotor spark plug, the top one. Top = trailing.
