Buying First Rotary, Need Advice/help
#1
Ok well heres the deal, Im buying a 87 rotary powered mazda rx7, and for a great deal might i ad, It is all primer black with stock alloys, dropped 2in, new headers, newer dual full exhaust with R1 mufflers i believe they are. Im gettin it for $500, Im just turning 16 soon and this will be my 3rd car so far. It starts up and runs, but sometimes dies at idle, and owner says it has a loss of power to it. What do you thinks wrong? bad gas, filters etc? or something bigger will post up pics soon!

Read the FAQ sections here and do some searching. The problem could be a number of things like vacuum leaks, bad injector, fuel filter, timing, etc.
Before you buy it, I'd do a compression test to rule out some worst case things. Also, start it up cold and see what color if any smoke comes out the back. If the engine is warmed up, it can hide a bad oil seal somewhat.

Well when i first checked it out, the guy said the car has sat for awhile, got in there to start it....didnt start, so we hooked some cables up to it, and started right away, sounded alright, no whining, no smoke, ran for about 40sec and then dropped to a low idle, and then died.
