hey everyone im going to possibly be buying a 1988 fc turbo ii. the owner says he had the engine rebuilt. does this mean that the problems that seam to come up at around 100k miles are going to be taken care of? also will this mean that i will be good for another 100k if i take good care of it? thank you.

It depends a lot on who the rebuild was done by. If it was someone reputable or a Re-manufactured mazda motor then you'll probably be good on the motor front for a while. If it was someone a little more shadey or you flog the hell out of the motor then well it might not last so long. I would be wary of thinking there is some 100k mile rule though. There are guys on this forum with over 200k on their original motors. It all depends on how you drive it and how you take care of it, just like any other piston motor. If you take care of the engine and dont beat the hell out of it chances are it will last a very long time.
