so my daily s5 n/a needs pads and rotors. also the passenger rear caliper is broken. (still works but needs replacement.) i'm going to be graduating school soon and am planning on making a 1500+ miles trip home. i was thinking of putting the 4 piston calipers up front with matching rotors as well as convert the rear solid rotor with a vented ones as well as replace the broken caliper. my question is, do i have to change anything else out to make the new calipers and rotors work? are s4 and s5 rear calipers the exact same? also, do i have to change fluid proportioning valves?

another thing i want to do is repack the wheel bearings and take a look around in that general area. i was wondering about what kind and where to get replacement seals. is this a factory only type of part to get? or will napa brand work? any thoughts or comments are appreciated by members with experience.

the front rotors are the same. so the 4 piston jobbers go right on. in the rear it takes different rotors and calipers, looks like the s5 base caliper is the same as the s4 4 lug caliper. the 5 lug s4 and 4 piston s5's all use the same rear calipers.

for the wheel seals, the napa part should be just fine, i bought mazda ones, cause i dont have to leave my desk.

mikey are you a mazda parts ***** again? menlo mazda eh....

hah ok so what you saying is all single piston sliding calipers for fc's are the same? if that is true, then s4 rear vented rotors will fit with the 'universal' single piston caliper on my 'base' s5 right? or do i have to use the stock solid rotors still?

since you are at your desk can you check if the proportioning valves are different part #'s between s4 and 5? also give me a quote for the wheel bearing seals. MIKE YOU ARE THE MAN!

yeah so heres the deal. all the 4 piston caliper cars get the same brakes front and rear from 86-91. the single piston front braked cars get weird. the 86-88's use a gsl-se caliper, and a non vented rear rotor. the 89-91 cars use the same front rotor as the 4 piston cars, but the rear rotors (and calipers) are the same except s5 has 5 lugs.
