It's not like doing a piston engine so the engine has to be removed... transmission and flywheel/flex plate removed from the engine.. then pretty much a complete engine tear down and rebuild. It is possible to do a tear down just the rear rotor section and replace the seals there, but its a bandaid fix at best.
As far as how hard it is to do it... it's not a hard job if you are mechanically inclined. Someone on here can probably point you to a link to buy the rebuild video that was out for a while (atkins??)
