Autometer gauges

The planz: I want to completely customize my gauges in my project. I have looked first thing into autometer gauges because I have had no problems in the past with any of their products. I plan on using fuel gauge, amp, oil pressure, water temp, oil temp, tach, and the ELECTRONIC self calibrating speedo gauge. I already have the rest of the gauges such as boost, afr, etc. I plan on simply removing the stock gauge cluster and coming up with a backing for the gauges to mount in. Of course I would cut the backing to fit inside the factory location as a tremendous hole opening into the inside of the dash would be well, ugly.
The questinz: Will the electronic speedo gauge work on the turbo2 transmission without any problems? Will I need some sort of adaptor in order for it to read correctly?
The reasonz: Besides looking pretty sweet (imo,) My speedometer has not worked correctly since I have been driving the car and now that I am running Brians stage 3 setup, I would really like to be able to tell just how hastily I am moving.
if ANYONE has had any sort of experience with the electronic speedo gauge, now is your chance to give props or dog kick the **** out of it.

I have the opposite problem, I have a electronic speedo output in my T56 in my FC, the factory speedo wont work without a very expensive adaptor.
I know alot of guys use those speedos, i THINK they have a optional adaptor to convert the signal- but why not just use a mechanical?

because I like the electronic setup more than the mechanical setup. Plus something about bold letters saying SELF CALIBRATING even though I am sure the mechanical version does the same thing. just something about having a digital read out is cool to me you know? But anyway sorry to any reading that I havent gotten any pics of the 88 up yet, my internet still sucks right now. Hopefully I can get a complete write up, pics, etc. posted sometime in the near future.
I think also that I read up on some hal-effect sensor adaptor? I dunno, the guy I was asking about the gauge told me to contact Autometer which I am almost positive the receiving end would be automated so I decided to take it to the next best place: nopistons. Seeing as how the gauge would be installed into a 2nd gen anyways but oh well.

so it seems that the adaptor is the top of discussion. I am not really worried about the price of the gauge itself because well, I want it. flat out. My biggest concern about it though is how would I go about hooking everything up seeing as how it IS analog to digital. It seems I should look more into the adaptor they say "may be required."

James, The only way I could think of this actually working in our car would be to get an analog -> electronic sender FROM an existing mazda transmission but I highly doubt it would be as simple as replacing the stock analog cable. Another way I thought of was to use the closest fitting Hall effect sensor be it for the chevy or the ford version and come up with some bracket so that the needle stayed in contact with the gear. I am still interested in doing this cluster setup but theres a few things in line to happen with that car first :P I just got the gauge lights working again from being down for a couple months cause I get lazy with it sometimes.
Ill do some research on a crossover sender and see what I can find. but I still think the hall effect sender is the way to go, just have to fab a little. It actually looks like it comes with some sort of analog needle sensor that fits inside the transmission and sends a signal through the sender into an electronic output. Ill see if I can find an image of what I am talking about and post it.
