is there anyone who would be interested in buying a carbon fiber trunk lid for your fc convertable?

and dose anyone else think its actually a good idea?

if so theres a company called 5one5 inovations who make custom carbon fiber parts for the fc and a few other models. (you can go to the parts for sale forum and scroll down to custom parts for complete info) i personally think its a great idea for look, weight reduction, and to make your fc even more unique. i personally have never seen one but i think it would be a perfect finishing touch if you own a cf hood or was thinking of buying one. follow the parts for sale thread for price and time it will take for you to receive.

if theres enough people interested we can get a group buy.

it is convertible not convertable

is it really worth it? how much weight savings vs. cost?

will the hinges and latch bolt up like stock or is it a gay lift off unit with pins?

good question. im pretty sure hood pins would be out of the question, that would more than likely look like crap, but for the most part for show it would be one of the nicest custom pieces ever for the vert. i know it would not make a hell of a difference in weight but if you have the carbon fiber hood it would definently complete the look.

seems pointless to me if it doesnt weigh any less than why not keep the one that came free with the car. Id rahter spend the money where it would make a difference to something.

i guess it would have the same pros and cons as buying a carbon fiber hood. i also wondered about exactly how much of a difference in weight, because my friend who has a srt-4 shaved 29lbs by adding a carbon fiber hood and trunklid.

Hey Hey :-p I have a nice carbon fiber hood with scoop I found on ebay. Does anyone have pics of a carbon fiber trunk lid? I'm not quite sure if the look would benefit the price (my hood was 750).

It doesn't have hoodpins either, it opens just like the stock hood and uses all stock mounts.

I think that a cf trunk for a convertible is a little pointlees for anything but looks. Sure you will save some weight but really now, how many of us vert owners are really gonna track the cars where you might see a benefit. My vert, although driven hard, is a fun cruiser not a track car. I wouldn't mind the look of one to accent a cf hood, but the benefit from the saved weight would be much more useful on a standard hatchback coupe.

I don't think I will buy it for my vert (because I have tons of other stuff to upgrade) but it's good if we have more choices for our cars.
