anyone use a N/A waterpump on a TII?

I think the difference is that the T2 housing has the coolant nipple for the turbo. If you do not need that, then you should be good. The bolt patterns are the same, the water pumps are the same, so I am pretty sure that it should work. But don’t quote me on that, it has been a while since I have seen a N/A housing.

You are correct. I had to plug mine also when I went with a dry cartridge but I would with a NA if you have it and not worrying about it leaking or exploding when the rubber gets old.
