Hey,

I just installed an aem twin fire on my 87' fc.The twin fire works Fine but I have killed 2 trailing ignitors, granted they were used and this may just be a coincidence.I am more familiar with 1st and 3rd gen rx7's and have little experience with the 2nd's.I have raising and dropping 5v signal from the ecu.I put in my spare ignitor to check and it worked fine.I wired in the twin fire to the trailing and now I have no signal out of the ignitor even if the twin fire is bypassed.

Is there any better ignitors to use.I have a ton of fd parts but dwell would be different so a coil swap would be needed.Maybe these ignitors are just garbage and I need to have a bunch of spares........Just hunting for some more opinions..

Thanks,

Nick

Twin fire is still being sold.I've sold and installed several on different applications with no issues. This is the first rotary with the unit for me.

I just am wondering if the trailing ignitors on the stock fc are a common failure. If so I'll try to stock up until next year.At this point I have to run a stock ecu to race in the class I am running this season.

trailing coils dont really fail, can you wire it up so its only on the leading?
