Do the '88 vert headrests (leather with speakers) come off the seats? Redoing the leather, cannot get them off.

The 2 posts appear to be welded to the seat frame in the back section, there is one bolt on plate between the 2 posts which of course I can't get off.

The bolt has to be removed, it's a pain in the *** but it will come off. If you are deleting the headrests then you will have to cut the headrest mounting brackets away from the seat frame(s).

So the posts are not welded to the seat back frame? Thanks.

If you pull the leather and foam back with your thumb you can expose the bolt to detach the headrest, the post, or metal flange is spot welded to the seat back frame.
