87 t2 air fuel mixture problem searched couldn't find anything

i have an 87 t2 with a j-spec engine if that matters and i searched the form for a wile and couldn't find the anwser to my problem. everything is stock so and (compression is good new engine) anyway i go to crank the car and it cranks and i have to keep my foot on the gas to keep it going. its got all new vac lines so its not a vac leak. I can start the car without steping on the gas pedal and it will rev up to 1500 rpm's and the go right down to 0 and ill have to restart the car. now i can start it and it will rev up and i have to keep my foot on the gass the car will run for a few minits and than go right down to 0 agin.
now theres the weird part. i start the car and give it gas and whell im doing it pull the return line off on the fuel rail and i will not see any fuel coming out is there a check valve in there somewhere? or something. dose anyone know why it would do this my guss is that all the fuel is being dumped down the injectors but why what would cause them to stay open like this. thanks any help on this would be great and i know on the j-spec the fuel lines are backwords to the a-spec and i can swap them around and it makes no differance.

First thing you should check is fuel pressure.
Sounds like you might have a large vacuum leak, but its hard to diagnose things without seeing the car in person. Where are you located? Maybe a forum member could give you hand...

hmm im located in near tacoma washingtion its about 30 minits outside of seattle. man i wish i could get a 2end diagonosis from someone who knows thses cars really well.
I was thinking about doing the fuel pump rewire and geting more voltage to the fuel pump what do you think has anyone on the form done this before and had it work.

Almost sounds like an AFM issue. Are you using the stock TID?
Fuel pump voltage should have nothing to do with your current problem. Maybe a clogged filter or line?

BTW, if you pay for my gas (25mpg) I'll come down one day and help you. I also have a fuel pressure gauge I can bring.

dunno if this helps, but when me and my friend were messing around with his 86 nt, we pulled out the maf sensor? (big metal thing behind the air filter box) and when we started it with it out it did the same thing yours is doing... might want to look into that. chiltons should tell ya resistance values for a maf sensor if you have one handy...

my 86 gxl had that problem, chech the tps. i replsced mine and it still idled a little funny, i then messed with there the tps wires connect to the harness and it started to idle correctly. im not sure if it will have any effect but its worth a try. i have more ideas but i cant seem to remember the parts names on the car at the moment :P
