i saw this thing once it was a gear box and you hook it up to the normal transmission and you get a 6 speed. What would you gain by doing this? and it really doesnt make sense how would you shift into 6th, the kit only came with the gear box so wouldnt you have to replace the(damn cant remember the name of it) but how could it work?

The only time I heard of something like that was for a VW. I have no clue how it would work.

sounds pretty tight though. maybe u could get higher gear ratios and a higher rea end = faster times, and u could keep crusin Rpms low by just upshifting. U figure if u throw like a 5.7 in the rear u would be @ 4500Rpms going 60 in 5th gear on the freeway ( just for example not accurate at all), BUt if u had another gear u could be @ 2800Rpms going 60 in 6th gear( again for example.) So you wouldn't get horrible gas mileage and still be faster, and your top end would be higher not to mention That would be cool but how much would it cost to do this????

Well this doesn't quite fit with the original post but in the off-road world a company called Klune-V makes crawl boxes for your 4x4. the bolt up between the tranny and transfer case and can be switched off and on so you can drive your vehicle on the street. When activated they produce an incredible low gear ratio.
