How to fix a non-working horn!
#1
Having to pass inspection, my horn had to be working. On most 2nd gen, it likes to die and work 2% of the time. If you're one of them, there might be a simple fix.
1st - Check if your connection are good in the engine bay, in front of the radiator, under the black plastic cover. There's 2 horns.
2nd - The relay is located in the black C.P.U. box, on the driver's side interior wall, near the clutch pedal. It has 1 10mm nut holding it into place. If you push the horn buttons on the steering wheel and here a "CLICK" and no horn, try these instructions...
You'll need
soldering iron (20-45w is fine)
some solder
solder pump
remove the 3 connectors on the CPU box, 1 on top, 2 on bottom and remove the CPU.
there's 3 modules in it, horn, hazard and turn light. we need to popup the horn module which is the top one with the huge connector. just use a knife or flat head screw driver.
from here, remove the old solder on all the connectors pins so that you can remove it after. there is about 15-20 point to de-solder. when all solder is removed, take the white connector off and clean the pins with sandpaper. resolder it with new solder, put everything back and enjoy your horny rex.
